CADS – Adaptive

CADS – Alpine Adaptive Snowsports

Vision:

The Canadian Assoication for Disabled Skiing (CADS) is the National and an International leader in alpine adaptive snowsports.

Mission:

CADS fosters the development and delivery of best practices through partnerships, leadership, training, and certification, so individuals with a disability have the opportunity for healthy recreation and competition in alpine adaptive snowsports.

Instructor Academy has invited the CADS to prepare a course that will fulfil the requirements of our additional disciplines, as well as the requirements of EFPEM in Andorra. The participants will finish the course with a CADS Level 1 Certification process.

The structure of the course is yet to be completely finalised; but here is a draft outline.

We will introduce the teaching methods, equipment and adaptation to teach beginner levels of the following disciplines:

  • Visually impaired ski/board
  • 3 tracking
  • 4 tracking
  • Sit ski
  • Snowboard
  • Autism and cognitive impairments

A pre-requisite for this Course is that particiants are either CSIA or CASI certified OR have completed 18 hours CSIA/CASI teaching methodology. For example even if a participant has failed the CSIA 1, they would still qualify as they have had 18 hours experience during the Level 1 course
